Cycling in the Kakavos Waterfalls
Our day starts with your pick up from the hotel where you are staying with our company van. The starting point of the route is 9 kilometers from Ierissos to the chapel of Zoodochos Vivi, a monastery of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar.
The route we cycle is 16 km with return and its duration including the stay at the waterfalls is 4 hours. It is an easy route with uphill climbs of 100 meters and the most demanding part is 2 km of difficult uphill until the end of the route where we reach the gorge of the asprolakka and there we can hear the waters of the river coming down from the village of Stagira …
Kakavos is distinguished by one of the most beautiful and dense mixed broadleaf forests in Greece, countless hills, ravines, gorges, streams and small rivers with waterfalls. There are reports from German and Austrian foresters of the 19th century that describe the wooded landscapes of the area as the most beautiful in Europe. A wonderful place to explore.
The result is worth the effort..
Finally on our way back to Ierissos we have the opportunity to have a tour and tasting at the local brewery.
