Hiking on the Aristotelian Trail
Our hike takes place on the Stratoniko Mountain in the area above Stagira, the birthplace of Aristotle. In the area there are amazing oak forests, old, towering beech trees, chestnut trees and many other species of rich flora and fauna.
It is a less known mountain range of Halkidiki, but it hides endless beauties.
Our day starts with your pick up from the hotel where you are staying with our company van. The starting point of the route is 30 km from Ierissos to Aristotle’s Park.
Our hike starts from the Aristotle Park which is located just after the village of Stagira in Halkidiki. In the first kilometers of the trail we walk over the two settlements of Stagira and Stratoniki where we find the Ottoman Bath (hamam) which dates back to the 15th century, when the area was known as Sidirokausia. We continue on a forest road initially and a path later and passing by many stops we climb for about 3 kilometers up to the highest point of the route, 750 m. altitude at the location Kerasouda (total distance to there 5.5km). We continue on a downhill path through the beautiful forest , and later on the beautiful bushy hills above the olympiad with fantastic views . In total the hike is about 13km and takes 4.30 hours, with a total elevation gain of 365m ascent and 846m descent.
